St Mary’s is a popular church at the centre of its community. Serving both the old and the new town or Amersham, we aim to be a place where the Good news of Christ is proclaimed in a warm and approachable manner, but without neglecting the strengths of the Anglican Liturgical tradition.

We are very strong on music and worship, with a large choir and high standards of organ and instrumental playing. We employ a professional Youth Worker full time, and have close links with the many schools in the area, especially St Mary’s Primary and Dr Challoner’s Grammar and High Schools.

Our theology is conservative, but our preaching aims to engage with the reality of living the spiritual life in today’s world. The Bible is opened and taught.

Many of the locals work in London, only half an hour away on the Tube or Overground rail services. Sunday morning especially is a time when they may find here some spiritual and moral framework for their busy lives.

Above all we aspire to be a community where Prayer and People are taken seriously.
