Amersham Martyrs Community Play

Amersham Museum is staging the very successful Martyrs Play again in March 2011 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of the first  Amersham Martyr. Anyone who is interested in getting involved (in speaking or non-speaking parts or backstage) is invited to come to one of the public meetings to hear Stan Pretty explain his plans n Tuesday 21st September 2010 in the Market Hall, Old Amersham 5-6.30pm or 8-9.30pm. Last time there were over 100 adults involved and about 50 children; the youngest was 4 and the oldest 84. If you are interested but can’t be there on 21st September, please email AmershamMartyrs@gmail.com or telephone 01494 725186 to tell us how you want to be involved or to ask for more information.

A Special Service

Do join us at 6pm on Sunday 25th July for our annual journey through the liturgical year in readings and music with the full choir. Always a highlight of the summer. Drinks will be served afterwards.

 

Deepening our Understanding of the Christian Faith

Tim hopes to start a short course in the early autumn (his mini Alpha) for any who are interested. This would also be very suitable for anyone interested in Confirmation at some point. Do speak to him.

 

Parish Rooms

These are now closed for a while during the refurbishment of the loos.

 

Vacation

The Harpers are on holiday from Thursday 29th July to Monday August 16th inclusive – all services will take place as usual

 

8am Holy Communion Breakfast

Owing to the refurbishment of the Church Rooms, the next breakfast will be on October 31st.

   

CD's, Books & DVD's

Children’s application forms are now available in St. Mary’s Church or from TOM KIRKUP

Holiday Club desperately need help to look after the volunteer's children in creche.  We are looking for volunteers to do either a full day or morning or afternoon on any/every day during holiday club.  Any help they could give would be great! Please let Tom know if you can help out in any way.

Also if we could have volunteeers to do a cake for our end of holiday club service.  If they could be brought to the Amersham School on the morning of Friday 27th.  We need 10 cakes or individual cakes (for about 10), whatever is easy. 

 

Walking Group

The walking group will meet at the White Horse in Hedgerley at 10.45am on Tuesday 27th July. The walk is rather short with the odd stile, taking in part of an RSPB nature reserve. Food will be pre ordered. Numbers please to Roy Hoing on 726937 by 26th July. Directions: Turn into Beaconsfield Services on M40 but at the roundabout turn left into Hedgerley Lane. At T junction turn right into Hedgerley.

Can you help with the Amersham Summer Festival?

We are looking for volunteers to help with security at this year’s Amersham Summer Festival for young people on Saturday 4th September on King George V field. Volunteers are needed to walk around with security jackets on from either 12 noon – 5pm or from 5pm –9pm.
